Preventing or reducing the impact of mental health problems on parenting during the perinatal period
12th March, 2012 and 8th June, 2012
Facilitated by Anne-Lyse De Guio (Director of Education & Research Tresillian Family Care Centre)
This workshop targets health professionals caring for families during the perinatal period. It provides a sound understanding of health determinants and the risk factors that can impact dramatically on the well being of families and the emotional development of infants. It familiarises workers with the mental state examination that underpins the recognition of acute mental health problems including anxiety, depression and psychosis and supports risk assessment and management.
It provides simple, practical tips, information and resources to inform the ongoing care of mentally ill parents. Finally it informs clinicians on how to communicate with mental health services when their input is indicated.
