Parents of children with disabilities & chronic conditions
MyTime
MyTime groups support parents and carers of young children with a disability or chronic medical condition.
- Parents, grandparents and carers can meet at a MyTime group to socialise and share ideas
- The aim of the group is to assist families to understand and share the rewards and intensity of the caring role.
- A group leader facilitates each group.
- Topics that might be discussed include taking care of yourself, getting the right support, your child’s development and play ideas.
- A play helper is employed as part of the program and will engage the children in a range of activities such as singing, dancing, telling stories, games, dressing up and drawing.
Who can attend a MyTime group?
Parents and carers in receipt of the Carers Allowance with a child aged up to five years who has a disability or chronic condition.
MyTime background
- MyTime is a $9m national initiative funded by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA)
- Tresillian Family Care Centres is one of three agencies approved to set up this initiative in New South Wales
